About The Schooner and Crew

Heron is family built, owned and operated. We live aboard & home-school our girls, Rachel and Elissa. During summer months Heron sails Penobscot Bay and winters in the Caribbean.

Heron is a famous & proven design, is fast and comfortable with round the world capabilities. It is one of the most famous classic yachts of all time.

Both Nigel (Twig) and Bonnie are 100 ton USCG licensed captains, having sailed extensively in the Gulf of Maine, trans-Atlantic and the Caribbean, sailing skiffs, schooners and square riggers. We have been doing tours from Rockport Harbor for more than 15 years. Heron has sailed over 40,000 sea miles since her launching in 2003.
